Design & Technology

Summer Term

We definitely used our skills of evaluation in DT this term to improve our finished products.

To challenge us, we had to use our knowledge of rations and proportion in maths to adapt our recipes and make sure our mixture was adequate for a certain amount of people. We learnt that taking time to accurately measure and weigh ingredients is very beneficial!

After a practise run, we also learnt how to improve the taste and appearance of our basic cookie recipe, and using fair trade ingredients, we added things such as chocolate chips, fruit, honey comb and caramel chunks. They were definitely a success!

We’ve kick-started our DT this term by tasting a selection of biscuits and cookies. We plan on making our own sweet biscuits, using fair trade ingredients - watch this space to see our finished products.

Making 3D models

We used a range of skills to create a 3D frame which can then be used to attach our cam which will enable our animal to move.

We had to:

  • measure our wood accurately
  • cut each piece of wood using a hacksaw
  • sand the edges of our wood using sandpaper
  • construct our frames to create a 3D model.
