Boys’ 7-a-side Football v Willow Primary School - Thursday 8 February 2024

Yesterday, saw the start of the Boys Cup competition with St James playing what turned out to be a very strong and organised side from Willow Primary.

The game kicked off at quite a pace with both teams passing the ball well and having shots on goal. However, it was St James' that took the lead with a well worked move down the left-hand side of the pitch leaving Harvey to slot the ball into the back of the net. A second St James goal followed quite quickly thanks to a solid shot from Mamadu. This brought us up to half time.

In the second Willow came back at St James' vigorously with wave after wave of attacks with them displaying good passing and many powerful shots at goal. But our defensive got stuck with some excellent blocks and clearances and it must be said that Ayman made some fantastic saves; which included saving a penalty! Willow did get a goal back making the final score 2 - 1.

Well done boys this was by far your best game Mr Matthews and Mr Millington are very proud of you!!

Thursday 14 September 2023 - 7-a-side tournament

Thursday saw the first outing of the boy's football team, where they took part in a 7 a-side tournament. The first game was against Finlay. The boys battled hard and for the majority of the game it was a 1 - 1 with Mohammed scoring. However, with the last kick of the game Finlay's striker scored in the top right-hand corner making the final score 2-1 to Finlay.

The second match was against Widden, with the final scoring being 2-0 to Widden. The final game was against Linden who had already played against the other teams and comfortably beaten them, so the boys knew they had a tough game to play. Sadly, the final score was 1-0 to Linden.  However, the boys didn't give up and they took the game to Linden.  Ayman produced some great saves, Harvey had several great shots on goal, Mamadu worked tirelessly and our 'Man of the Match' was Ryan who was solid in defence and midfield throughout the whole tournament.

Well done boys, you made Mr Hutchinson and Mr Matthews very proud!
